Often described as an "ethnolinguistic constellation," the groups include the Bukusu, Maragoli, Kabarasi, Tachoni, Wanga, and Samia, among others. Each sub-tribe maintains a distinct dialect and clan system while sharing a unified identity and common cultural institutions.
